석 달이 지난 후, 우리는 그 섬에서 겨울을 보낸 알렉산드리아 배를 타고 뱃길에 올랐습니다. 그 배의 앞에는 쌍둥이 신 표시가 있었습니다. 우리는 수라구사에 배를 대고 삼 일 동안을 지냈습니다. 그 곳을 떠나서는 레기온에 도착했습니다. 그 이튿날, 남풍이 불어 와서 그 곳을 쉽게 벗어날 수 있었습니다. 이틀만에 우리는 보디올에 닿았습니다. 거기서 우리는 신자들을 만나 그들의 초청을 받고 일 주일 동안, 그들과 함께 지냈습니다. 그런 뒤에 마침내 우리는 로마에 도착했습니다. 로마에 있는 형제들은 우리가 온다는 소식을 듣고 '압비오 광장'과 '세 여관'까지 우리를 마중하러 왔습니다. 바울은 그들을 보자, 용기를 얻었으며 하나님께 감사했습니다. Today's Word

After three months we put out to sea in a ship that had wintered in the island—it was an Alexandrian ship with the figurehead of the twin gods Castor and Pollux. We put in at Syracuse and stayed there three days. From there we set sail and arrived at Rhegium. The next day the south wind came up, and on the following day we reached Puteoli. There we found some brothers and sisters who invited us to spend a week with them. And so we came to Rome. The brothers and sisters there had heard that we were coming, and they traveled as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns to meet us. At the sight of these people Paul thanked God and was encouraged. (Acts 28:11-15, NIV)

After surviving the storm, shipwreck, and spending three months on Malta, Paul's final journey to Rome begins. This was not merely a transfer of a prisoner—it was the fulfillment of God's promise. We too must build relationships within the church community where we encourage and strengthen one another. Especially when there are brothers or sisters going through difficult times, we should seek them out to comfort and encourage them, like the Roman Christians who ran out to the Forum of Appius.
